Veteran and Villian Actor of Tamil Cinema, MN Nambiar Died!


The veteran and villian actor of Kollywood, MN Nambiar died at the age of 89 in Chennai on November 19, 2008. He died due to cardiac arrest at his Gopalapuram residence. He is survived by a daughter and two sons.

One of his sons is a politician in Bharathia Janata Party (BJP).

Nambiar started his career in 1935 as a villain in Bhaktha Ramadoss and acted in more than 1000 films over six decades.

He also acted in Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi cinema but he's best known for playing the villain opposite legendary Tamil actor MG Ramachandran. He has also acted against the late Tamil Actor Chevalayar Sivaji Ganesan.

Nambiar's memorable films were Aayirathil Oruvan, Ambikapathi, Thooral Ninnu Pochu, Baba, and Nenjam Marappathillai.

A Malayalee by birth, Nambiar, who later settled down in Chennai in Tamil Nadu for pursuing a career in acting, was born on March 7, 1919 at Kannur in Kerala.

He is a very spritual person and has made more than 60 pilgrimate trip to Sabarimala--the main place Lord Iyappan. Though he has acted as villian, in real life he is a gentleman and liked by everyone. He is fondly knowns as Maha Guruswamy.

Several actors including Rajnikanth and politicians including former Chief Minister and AIADMK leader cum general secretary Dr. J Jayalalitha paid their last tribute.
