The censor board has issued an "U" certificate to the much awaited movie Dasavatharam. As everyone knows this movie is being produced by Oscar Films Ravichandran and directed by K.S. Ravikumar with Kamal acting in 10 different roles with different make up.

The film went through various challenges including a case against Kamalhasan for stealing the story. The case was filed saying that the story was stolen and it is not the story of Kamalhasan. Later the court directed both the parties to submit a detailed document explaining the story in Engish.

Few weeks before the release, the trailer was released. One of the religious outfits filed a case in the court asking the directors to remove some of the scenes that hurt the sentiments and religioius feelings. The film portrays as if Saiva one group is hurting the Vainava group.

Everyone knows that Kamalhasan is acting in 10 different charcaters in his recent venture Dasavatharam. He has spent enormous hours and put in a lot of effort in addition to the money by the producer Oscar Ravichandran.

Kuruvi - Review

Language: Tamil
Movie: Kurivi
Director: Dharani
Producer: Red Giant Movies - Udhayanidhi Stalin
Music: Vidyasagar
Photography: Gopinath
Cast: Vijay, Trisha, Vivek, Manivannan, Suman, Ashish Vidyarthi

Rating: *

The movie is not worth watching! Sure that in the next one or two years, it will be out in the TV, for the first time in the world.

The crew which made Gilly, has created this movie Kuruvi. The expectation was so high that this crew will give another hit, has in fact disappointed the fans and movie goers. Dharani, Vijay, Trisha, Vidyasagar, etc. were not able to make it a success. The one key person missing is "chellam" Prakashraj.

I think it will be a disappointment for Vijay's fan as the expectation was so high after he was almost set to be the next super star. This kind of movie will definitely remove that option.

The story is about the son saving the father from the villians--same old story which we have seen in so many films. This movie should have the best screen play and songs placed in the right place to keep the audience guessing the next move and keep them in the corner of the seat. But, the director has failed to do that.

The opening scene of Vijay, winning a car race is no where believable. The current audience understand that this is not digestable. Why is doing this when he knows that he cannot even win a cycle race? The ATM had him winning the cycle race, which is sort of oaky, but sure that he cannot do that in real life.

After that win, the usual opening songs with some message. The "Darna, Darna ..." song with Malavika--an item number, because she was not seen in the movie after that.

With the villians Suman playing the role of Cocha, a Malaysian tycoon, forcing Manivannan and other labourers to excavate the diamonds against the ban of the government, he refuses; Ashish Vidyarthi playing the role of Konda Reddy, a MLA has a joint venture with Suman. When Manivanan refuses to do the job, he has been punished and treated as slave by the villians. He challenges that his son would come and save him and take revenge.

Vijay playing the role of Vel, faces a problem when a stranger claims for his house for the bounced cheque given by his father. He finds that the cheque was not issued by Cocha to Vetrivel Industries. He flies as a carrier (Kuruvi) to Malaysia.

On the other hand, Trisha, who is a sibling of Suman, unwiling to marry the groom fixed, falls in love with hero Vijay.

Rest of the story is about Vijay saves his father and fellow labourers with his tactics and whether he joins hands with Trisha.

What a poor story and screen play???

Vivek's jokes relaxes a little bit and makes you laugh, but he was seen in only few frames. He could have been used better.

Vijay's dance was the big plus point that you can say. He should develop in selecting the story, the fight scenes, and punch dialoges. I am sure the matured audience would not able to digest these things if they are over-done as done in this move. The dialoge in the movie "pechu thaan dee silent. Aana Adi… Sara Vedi..." is not required. Not sure to whom is he saying this.

The music was good, but not utilized. They were inserted in unnecessary places and you don't expect them at that point in time. May be, the director wanted the audience to take the break in-between scenes.

Didn't expect this from Dharani, who has directed successful films like Dhil, Dhool, Gilly. Vijay has to learn that the movie will well by just showing in the screen. He can be given the Super Star crown, but still he should make rest of the items work.

Bad luck Vijay, Dharani and co. All the best for the next movie!

Rating: *1/2 (1.5 stars)

Billa Selected for Cannes Film Festival

Billa, remake of the old Billa produced by Sujatha Cine Arts and acted in dual role by Super Star Rajnikanth, has been selected for Cannes Film Festival.

The new Billa directed by Vishnuvardhan and acted by Ultimate Star, Ajith, made a good show in the box office. The storyline was the same, but the picturaisation and song choreography were good. The camera, music and the screen play were good that it won't bore you.

The entire film crew is happy that their movie has been selected for Cannes!
