Kuselan, the much hyped and expected movie did not make generate the money as expected. The complaint from the theatre owners was that the movie was sold to them as Rajni movie.

Theatre owners said that the director P Vasu and Kavithalaya productions said that it is a full length Rajni movie like Sivaji with fights and songs.

The MGM (Minimum Guaranteed Money) was also not recovered from the film. So, they are going against Kavithalaya Productions and Rajni.

Madurai Theatre Owners Association have decided to stop screening Kuselan and any movie produced by Kavithalaya.

Rating: **

If you want to watch a movie with family (except for Nayanthara Vadivelu and Vadivelu watching his wife exercising scenes), you can go to this, but guaranteed that you will not get your money's worth unless you buy the ticket for less than 50 rupees.

This is not a typical superstar movie. He enters the scene only after 35 minutes. The entry scene is also not that great! It was not well planned!

This is a remkae of the superhit Malayalam movie Katha Parayumbol. Mammooty's role in Malayalam is played by superstar Rajni in the Tamil version. The mistake was that it was hyped to be a full length Rajni movie and the attraction it got was so enormous--with Rajni getting in 20 roles, etc.

The movie is about Balakrishnan alias Balu (played by Pasupathi) who is a barber with a poor business in his village. Sridevi (played by Meena) his wife, has 3 kids and couldn't pay the school fees.

Livingston is a money lender in the same village. He roams around in a jeep along with few thugs around him Santanabharathy and MS Baskar.

The village comes to know about the arraival of Ashok Kumar (played by Rajnikanth) to their village for a shooting. Other stars seen with no value addition are Nizalgal Ravi, Vijayakumar, Prabhu, etc.

Everyone in the village comes to know that Balu is a friend of Ashok Kumar. They give him all the respect, the school authorities pay the fees, financier Livingston helps him by bringing new chairs.

But, he couldn't meet because of his shyness and hesitation that his friend might reject him. But, during the school day function, the superstar reveals that Balu was a good friend and helped him when he was in poor state. He remembers and recollects the friendship and says, the proverb should be "Madha (mother), Pidha (father), Guru (teacher), nanban (friend) and daivam (god)."

The entire village listens to his story and understand that Balu did not lie about their friendship. Superstar finally goes to his home and orders his family to join with him.

Sundarrajan asking Rajni political related questions were cut in the theatre after first few weeks as it erupted questions on him entering the politics.

Chandramukhi-2's graphic scenes are good.

Comeday is sort of vulgar in couple of places--when Vadivelu tries to see Rajni, enters Nayanthara's make up room; and then Vadivelu watching his wife doing exercise. The laughter bursts out when he starts from his saloon and comes back to the same spot assuming he has come to a shooting spot.

The songs are very poor. The background music is also not good. The "Perinbakkar" song is a repetition of "Veyil" song.

Camera is okay. Direction is poor.

Not a must watch
