I was not in Car, but in Sri Lanka - Simbhu

Simbhu, one of the upcoming young heroes, said that he was not in the car during the accident. He was in Sri Lanka shotting for his film.

His car went missing and later reported to be involved in an accident killing a person near Uthiramerur. In a press meet, he along with his dad addressed the gathering and he said:

"I was not in Chennai when the car went missing. I was in Sri Lanka shooting for my film Silambattam. When I was in shooting, my mother called and said, Kuralarasan's (his brother) car went missing. I asked my driver to look into that. Next day, I got an update saying the car was yet to be traced. For the next two days, they said there were not able to find the car.

"In the meantime, few journalists reported that my brohter and I drunk heavily and were standing there. I am not sure why people are always dragging me in these kinds of issues. They related me with an actresses. I am an open person and share everything with press.

"I didn't know who is behind this, but I am sure there is a person behind all of this. This person is dragging me into these kinds of issues."

His father, veteran actor-director Vijaya T Rajender said, "I have proof that Simbhu was not here. He was in Sri Lanka for his film shooting. If this kind of harrasment continued, I will take it to the human rights commission and also take legal action."

Cast: Karthik, Piya, Omar, Nasser, ‘Nedumudi’ Venu, Mouli, Bosky, John Vijay, Balaji, George, Justina, Lakshmi, Pittu and others
Cross-Reference: Based on Hindi film Kosla Ka Kosla
Rating: ***

Nedumudy Venu (father of the hero) dreams about his irony death and his family did not pay attention to it. He convinces his family members to buy a plot with all his savings. He also plans to build his dream house in the plot, but to his shock and surprise he finds that it has been acquired by a relase estate bigwig Naseer.

All attempts by his Omar (younger son of Venu) did not yield result. He contacts Gundas and Police, but they are with Naseer. When Omar breaks the walls built by Naseer at their plot, Nedumudi Venu is put behind the bars.

The hero Karthik, takes the help of Boskey, who was once a partner of Naseer and was cheated. Karthik's girl friend Piya's father Mouli has a drama group. All of these people plan a play against Naseer and win the property back.

The Hindi version Kosla ka Kosla did not do well in the box office, but it is expected to do well in Tamil. Understanding the taste of the Tamil Audience, the comedy sequences were added.

It covers the problems posed by the real estate brokers, agents, dealers. There were several complaints and lot of people were arrested for forging the documnents and selling lands by cheating people. This movie covers this very well and deals with the middle-class family problems. It is a good movie to watch with the family.

Rating: * * * (3 Star) - Watch and Enjoy! The film crew actually did not lie!

Sathyam - Movie Review

Language: Tamil
Movie: Sathyam
Director: A Rajashekar
Producer: GK Film Corporation - Vikram Krishna
Music: Harris Jayaraj
Photography: R.D. Rajasekar
Cast: Vishal, Nayanthara, Kotta Srinivasa Rao, Upendra, Prabhu Nepal, Sudha Chandran

Rating: *

The movie is about Sathyam, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, trying to go by law and punish the villians. Kotta Srinivasa Rao, plays the main villian role trying to occupy the position of the Chief Miniter of the State. What happens between Vishal and Kotta Srinivasa Rao is the film.

Vishal played as a cop for the first time. The role was played by almost all leading and new artists. On his directorial venture with an action-thriller, A.Rajashekar has roped in a theme that is so happening in today’s society.

Vishal is an honest and sincere police officer and against encounter killing of criminals. He is of the view that those criminals should be killed during the early stages rather than killing them 10 or 15 years later by that time, the criminal would have killed so man lives. He asks the other police officers to stop killing criminals in the name of encounter, but to arrest those who are behind giving those orders--the politicians.

On the emotional lines, a deep affection is revealed between mother-son relationship and Sudha Chandran as Vishal’s mother does a beautiful job.

Kottal Srinivas Rao playing the role of Kondal Dasan hires a man to kill three other ministers who are his bottleneck for becoming the next chief minister. But, Upendra, playing the role of Manickam, an ex-police officer, kills them. The first of the killing was well planned and picturized. He uses a rocket launcher to kill the first minister.

His dig at "Sammy" played by Vikram and later equaling it with God is a gimmick. He says, "Nan Porikki Illa, Police" (I am not a rowdy, I am policeP) but in Sammy, Vikram says the opposite "Nan Police Illa, Porikki" (I am not a police, I am a rowdy). Vishal later says, Only Law and God can punish (Sattamum and Samyium dhan thandikkanum).

Nayanthara is a journalist and lives the same apartment as Vishal. She entering Vishal's house to take back the video tape was little comedy--reminding Tom and Jerry.

She was glamorous in a song and rumoured that she requested the director to remove some of the scenes which was obliged.

When Upendra challenges that policeman cannot play his role fully due to political intervention, Vishal takes it as a challenge and arrests the group which sells heroine mixes ice creams sold to kids.

The witness was killed by the villian group and the police arrests Vishal. Later it is turned out that it was a plot to arrest the villians. He takes the control of the political meeting stage which was telecasted live on the TV channels. He asks for 10 crores from which was immediatley brought to the stage by the villians. He asks how did the money come and addresses the media, public through TV channels.

Finally, the villians were arrested by the police instead of him shotting them. He stands by his stance of not killing, but allows the law to take its action.

The music is okay, none of the songs stays in the mind. Overall a commercial movie, with a combination of Sammy (Vikram), Kakka Kakka (Surya) and Vettayadu Vilayadu (Kamalhasan)

Trisha in Kamal's Marmayogi!

Trisha is playing opposite Kamalhasan in his movie Marmayogi. With this recent hit Dasavatharam, Kamal is fully charged to make another movie, Marmayogi.

He has roped-in Trisha as the lady pair for him. She has not acted with the top two stars of Tamil cinema--Rajnikanth and Kamalhasan.

This is the first ever time she is acting with the top heroes of Tamil cinema. With Kamalhasan being perfectionist and hard worker, it will be tough tasks for Trisha to pair with him.

The experience of Kamal Hasan is not even equal to the age of Trisha. Though she has acted with the next generation leaders--Vijay (in Gilli, Kuruvi) and with Ajith (in Kireedom, Ji). She has acted with Vikram (in Sami), Shyam (in Lesa Lesa), Simbhu (Alai), Jayam Ravi (in Something Something).

Can all this experience help her in acting with Kamal--Ulaga Nayagan--Universal Hero?

Madurai Theatre Owners Association have decided to stop screening Kuselan and any movie produced by Kavithalaya.

Kuselan - Review

Language: Tamil
Movie: Kuselan
Director: P Vasu
Producer: Kavithalaya and Seven Arts Production
Music: G V Prakash
Photography: Aravind Krishna
Cast: Rajnikanth, Pasupathi, Meena, Nayanthara, Vadivelu, Livingston, Sundarrajan
Category: Family / Drama

Rating: **

If you want to watch a movie with family (except for Nayanthara Vadivelu and Vadivelu watching his wife exercising scenes), you can go to this, but guaranteed that you will not get your money's worth unless you buy the ticket for less than 50 rupees.

This is not a typical superstar movie. He enters the scene only after 35 minutes. The entry scene is also not that great! It was not well planned!

This is a remkae of the superhit Malayalam movie Katha Parayumbol. Mammooty's role in Malayalam is played by superstar Rajni in the Tamil version. The mistake was that it was hyped to be a full length Rajni movie and the attraction it got was so enormous--with Rajni getting in 20 roles, etc.

The movie is about Balakrishnan alias Balu (played by Pasupathi) who is a barber with a poor business in his village. Sridevi (played by Meena) his wife, has 3 kids and couldn't pay the school fees.

Livingston is a money lender in the same village. He roams around in a jeep along with few thugs around him Santanabharathy and MS Baskar.

The village comes to know about the arraival of Ashok Kumar (played by Rajnikanth) to their village for a shooting. Other stars seen with no value addition are Nizalgal Ravi, Vijayakumar, Prabhu, etc.

Everyone in the village comes to know that Balu is a friend of Ashok Kumar. They give him all the respect, the school authorities pay the fees, financier Livingston helps him by bringing new chairs.

But, he couldn't meet because of his shyness and hesitation that his friend might reject him. But, during the school day function, the superstar reveals that Balu was a good friend and helped him when he was in poor state. He remembers and recollects the friendship and says, the proverb should be "Madha (mother), Pidha (father), Guru (teacher), nanban (friend) and daivam (god)."

The entire village listens to his story and understand that Balu did not lie about their friendship. Superstar finally goes to his home and orders his family to join with him.

Sundarrajan asking Rajni political related questions were cut in the theatre after first few weeks as it erupted questions on him entering the politics.

Chandramukhi-2's graphic scenes are good.

Comeday is sort of vulgar in couple of places--when Vadivelu tries to see Rajni, enters Nayanthara's make up room; and then Vadivelu watching his wife doing exercise. The laughter bursts out when he starts from his saloon and comes back to the same spot assuming he has come to a shooting spot.

The songs are very poor. The background music is also not good. The "Perinbakkar" song is a repetition of "Veyil" song.

Camera is okay. Direction is poor.

Not a must watch
